Occupy Montreal protesters defend right to public space

As Occupy Montreal enters its fifth day, protesters have found an unlikely ally: the City of Montreal bylaws. While parks in Montreal are subject to regulations that explicitly forbid overnight stays, rules regarding public spaces, such as Square Victoria which protesters are occupying, are much less clear.

A liberated Libya

Last Thursday, Libya rejoiced at the news of the capture and subsequent death of long-time dictator Muammar Gaddafi. After weeks of fighting between National Transitional Council forces and the last ardent followers of the old regime in Sirte, Gaddafi was captured alive, while trying to flee the city.
