Lennoxville Goes Up In Flames
Overnight Fires Leave BU Students Homeless
Two fires broke out in Lennoxville overnight. They are believed to be unrelated.
The first took place at an apartment building at 3053 College Street around 9:00 PM where six Bishop’s students are residents.
This was followed by the second igniting shortly before 2:00 AM at the apartments located at 1 and 3 Speid, above the Korvette Store on Queen Street. Those apartments were completely engulfed by massive flames that took hours to extinguish.
One student was sent to hospital for smoke inhalation, minor burns and shock. All 19 residents are left homeless.

Bishop’s University and the Red Cross will be meeting with students this morning to offer their support. The University is accepting donations of clothing, furniture, supplies or financial contributions for those affected. To donate to the Fire Relief Fund contact Jill Fletcher in the University Advancement Office at 819-822-9600.
UPDATE: The BU SRC has organized multiple fundraisers today for the 19 homeless students. Green plastic cups, labelled Fire Relief Fund, are in the Student Union Building, the Dewhurst dining hall, and a few other selected spots; please drop in your change! … Happy Hour from 4pm to 7pm, will be by donation, and there will be a special $2 entry fee at the GAIT pub from 10pm on. All proceeds to the fund!
